author's
note
how do you like me so far?
when
i decided to go all haiku all the time, i asked myself one
big question: how long do you think you can last? a month?
a couple of months? i didn't know. in the back of my mind
i was thinking maybe six months tops. yet here i am, a year
to the day later. still here. yay me.
at
first it seemed easy. ideas came fast and furious, so fast
and furious i had to jot them down in one of those whatchamacallit
notebooks. ok, so some of it was not so great, but i posted
them anyway under the theory that even the Giants have their
off days. some of it was so crappy they'll never see the light
of day. for example:
fifty
years ago
ginsberg read a poem aloud
and atoms were smashed
or
i
went to a concert
next to me sat a one-armed vet
the sound of one hand clapping
you
get the picture.
these
days the ideas don't come so fast or furious -- not even the
bad ones. maybe that's a good thing. unironically, a year
later i find myself asking the same vexatious question: how
long? but if it means anything, my domain name is paid up
till 2011. i guess that makes me an optimist.
